Xanthe is an inspiring photographer and filmmaker (you can view her work here) that lives in London and after meeting her at the Art & the Heart workshop last summer, I contacted her to see if I could photograph her family. We met up on a cloudy April afternoon to photograph them at one of their favorite spots on Hampstead Heath. She and Luke have raised two amazing sons, Ky and Cosmo, and I loved getting to hang with their family for the afternoon.
Earlier this year Reid and I took a trip to South Africa as part of my belated 30th birthday present and it was nothing short of amazing. My first time anywhere in Africa and my first time that far south on this globe of ours. I decided to take only one camera along with me, my rolleiflex, so that I could travel light and to try to challenge myself photographically. I am so glad I made this decision- the more I shoot with that camera, the more I love it. Most of the shots below were taken on Kodak Ektar film with a few here and there taken on Portra 800. We stayed at an incredible place just outside of Cape Town called Babylonstoren and most of the images are from around the hotel grounds plus a few sprinkled in from Table Mountain and Boulders Beach. I apologize for the long post but even this is an edited down version. All film developed and scanned by UK Film Lab (opening to the public on June 3rd!).
A few memories from a February trip to Cornwall celebrating two friends’ 30th birthdays. The weekend included lots of great food, warming up at the pub, maybe a little too much whisky and walks along the coast where the puppies could roam at their pleasure.
