xanthe & family

Xanthe is an inspiring photographer and filmmaker (you can view her work here) that lives in London and after meeting her at the Art & the Heart workshop last summer, I contacted her to see if I could photograph her family. We met up on a cloudy April afternoon to photograph them at one of their favorite spots on Hampstead Heath. She and Luke have raised two amazing sons, Ky and Cosmo, and I loved getting to hang with their family for the afternoon.

milestones

A few memories from a February trip to Cornwall celebrating two friends’ 30th birthdays. The weekend included lots of great food, warming up at the pub, maybe a little too much whisky and walks along the coast where the puppies could roam at their pleasure.

madeline + josh

You may remember this cute couple from their engagement shoot. Well, Madeline & Josh had the sweetest wedding day on a beautiful farm in Tennessee and just managed to miss the rain by a few minutes after the ceremony ended. I also loved that they were announced as “Mr. and Mrs.” to the song “Son of a Preacher Man” which is fitting as Josh is the son of a preacher. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did taking them!

stephanie + norman

From the moment I first met Stephanie & Norman, I knew their wedding day was a story I wanted to document. We met at a coffee shop in NYC, they arrived on their bikes (helmets in tow) and had brought polaroids and photo books that documented their relationship. One of the first things Stephanie said to me was, “If I walked away with 10 polaroids from the day, I would be happy.” I was sold!

These two had already put so much thought and care into their plans, literally every detail you see below was created by them. I think my favorite detail was that for years Stephanie had been collecting polaroid cameras and film to hand out to their guests on the day. And that hand sewn quilt- amazing! You can probably tell that I was like a kid in a candy store and it was such an honor to add to Stephanie & Norman’s story.

liza + cutler

Liza & Cutler’s wedding was featured in Southern Living Weddings magazine and I wanted to share my favorites from the day with you here. Kathryn from Snippet & Ink was also kind enough to feature some of their images today and you can read a bit more about the wedding directly from Liza there as well. I hope you enjoy these as there is a lot to look through, I just had a hard time cutting it down, but once you see I think you will know why. Enjoy!

abby + j.b.

On this winter morning I wanted to share a beautiful spring wedding with a bride whose smile was so brilliant and infectious all throughout the day. Abby and J.B.- thank you so much for having me there to document your day. The abounding joy for these two made my job effortless and I wish them the best for many years to come!

2012

Above is a snippet of an amazing year that was full of beautiful celebrations and many miles traveled. I am so looking forward to the year ahead, the places where it will take me and all of the new faces I will meet along the way. I can’t properly express how incredibly grateful I am to all of my clients and would like to say thank you a million times over. I hope you all had a lovely holiday and here is to a great 2013!

willa

Just wanted to post this fun shot from a shoot I did for Willa Skincare back in November. You should check out their tumblr Willapedia on their site where a few more images from the shoot appear. Have a lovely weekend!

queen of the hebrides

A few weeks ago Reid and I took a belated 30th birthday trip for him to the insanely beautiful isle of Islay- home to many delicious whiskies, covered in peat, cows and sheep, and populated by some of the kindest people I have come across while traveling. We were both really looking forward to this trip and it exceeded any expectations we had by leaps and bounds. Of course I brought along a few cameras to document our adventures and when I got the film back I immediately wanted to print everything off. What I ended up doing was create a book through Pinhole Press and that is the reason this post looks a little bit different- instead of creating a new layout for the blog, I simply uploaded the pages I made for our book. Haven’t gotten the final product back yet but will let you know how it turns out when I do! And now please enjoy the beauty of this Queen of the Hebrides.

islay

One of the many breathtaking views we witnessed while visiting the isle of Islay a few weeks ago. Excited to share more from this Scottish adventure we had!
